Dear students,
We're deeply sorry for not being able to please everyone regarding the graduation ball. Having said that, we'd like to explain the reasoning and difficulties encountered in choosing the dates and venue for the graduation ball. Firstly,The venue JW Marriott was picked after due consideration between the choices of Istana, Raja Chulan, Renaissance and Westin. What had influenced our choice were the hotels available dates offered, ballroom capacity, price range and also the reputation of the hotel itself. The date 11th June 2010 was chosen as JW Marriott could only provide us with the usage of its grand ballroom on that day itself as other days had already been booked even before we had contacted any of the hotels. The choice was made by also taking into account the situation of the whole senior year having their examinations on that very week. Ultimately, we picked 11th June because it was the closest possible date available after the senior year’s examinations. Reason being, all students, would be leaving college already, most outstation students would be returning home as soon as possible, many students would have already made plans with family and friends for vacations after college has ended and few would actually want to go to a graduation party if their friends have all returned home or are away on vacation already.
We are aware of the fact that there are still a number of classes that would be having their final examinations on that very day itself, including our batch, the current student council from Jan 2010 intake who’ll be having their semester exams as well. We are very sorry for this unfortunate coincidence. We hope that all senior students who’ll be attending the graduation ball, will understand that the choices that have been made in securing the best venue and the best date, have been made by taking into account everybody’s expectations to make it a feasible reality yet at the same time, still working within the current physical constraints facing all of us.
